What is Chlorine?

Symbol is CL

Highly irritating and gaseous element which is normally colored greenish yellow. It can combine to any other element, it can produce sodium Chloride and can disinfect drinking water, pools and disinfecting sources of all other waste water treatment.

Discovered by: Carl Wilhelm Scheele

When: 1774

Nationality : Swedish

Chemical properties:

Melting point : -100.98°C

Boiling point : -34.6°C

Density : 3.214 g/l,

Specific gravity: 1.56 (-33.6°C)

Valence : 1, 3, 5, or 7

Since that it directly combine easily with other elements, it can be fatal when breath in at the amount of 1,000 ppm when inhaled because of its irritating to mucus membrane.

It can also cause skin burning when in liquid form.

Uses Of chlorine:

Household use: Chlorine is use for disinfecting Comfort rooms, Kitchen, Floors, and even to remove stains from the clothing. Be cautious in putting chlorine because it can decolorizing all of the fabrics.

Community Drinking Water: This has been the most safe way of disinfecting drinking water in the Community because this has been used since early 1900s and can be considered as one of the greatest discovery of mankind to ensure sanitation and longer life of every human being.

Industrial uses:

production of textiles
paper products
dyes
petroleum products
medicines
insecticides
disinfectants
foods
solvents
plastics
paints
Meat processes
Dairy products
Farms
Piggery
Hatchery
and many more....

SAFETY ASPECTS

A. Safety Information

Toxic limits : Toxic concn. in air- 1 ppm by volume

Detetion : Detectable odour/oncn. 3.5 ppm by volume. Bleach like choking odor.

Effects : It burns eyes, irritates skin, mucous membrane and affects respiratory system.

Prolong exposure causes suffocation resulting death. Liquid Chlorine causes cool burn.

B. Handling and Safety Instructions

•Move to free area from Cl2 contaminated area.

•Stop discharge if possible.

•Stay upward and use water to spray to 'knock down' vapor.

•If breathing is difficult give artificial respiration.

•For skin and eyes contact, flush with plenty of water.

•Wear goggles, self contained breathing apparatus, and rubber over clothing including gloves.

Alpha Chlor
Liquid Chlorine
8% Chlorine Content Stabilized

Alpha Chlor Liquid Chlorine leaves no granular powder residue to settle on the bottom of the pool and cloud your water.

Liquid chlorine begins working instantly.

Liquid chlorine is non-scaling. Over time, The chlorine strength of 2.5 gallons of liquid chlorine would require 4-7 lbs. of granular chlorinating shock.

Liquid chlorine is the most popular, least expensive, and most effective type of unstabilized chlorine.
